Question

I want to go for Hajj this year and want to leave my kids with their grand parents in Pakistan. The problem is that my younger daughter is on breast feeding and now I m trying to give her bottle but is rejecting it. My husband does not want to take her with us on hajj so that we can concentrate fully. What should I do? Should I take her with me? Should I perform hajj next year?

Answer

If you have concerns for your children when left behind, then this is a valid reason to delay your hajj for one more year. So this will be your decision to make. In the case of death (may Allah give you a long life,Aamin) wassiyah should be made by you, for someone to make the hajj on your behalf. As a matter of experience, breastfed babies' dont like to take a botte when weaned off the breast,a better alternative is drinking from an infant cup instead. Also,by the time you leave for hajj, your baby will be almost a year old and eating more that drinking. However ,you should have peace of mind if you are leaving your children behind,as this will affect you mentally during Hajj.

And Allah knows best.
