Is this backbiting? | Ask Alimah

Question

When I'm in severe pain and going to in depression, I discussed with my mother in law about abusive relationship. I knew if I don't discuss it, I will going to be mad. I'm confused, is seeking help for my relation with tears and pain, is I'm doing sin, is this backbiting? Because, my mother-in-law said to me I'm backbiter .......plz reply if it's backbite than how I seek help......

May Allah bless you with piety (Taqwa) and purity, strong Imaan,forgiveness of sins, have mercy on you, elevate your status, and bless you with knowledge of Deen and generosity. Ameen!

If you discuss an incident with someone who has the power to change the situation or help join husband and wife, it will not be considered backbiting.
