Question

How was Sayyidah Fatima (RA) was sent to the house of Sayyidina Ali after marriage ?

Answer

The marriage of Sayyidah Fatima (RA) and Sayyidina Ali (RA) was one of great barakah, simplicity, and is the premier example of the best Muslim wedding. The nikaah ceremony was performed by Nabi (SAW) with a several Sahaba as witness. The mehr given, also known as Mahr al-Fatimi was 480 Dirhams (silver coins), which is approximately 47 ounces of silver. When the announcement was complete, dates were distributed. When it came time for Faatimah (RA) to go to Ali (RA)’s house, she departed from her beloved father’s home without any noise, procession, or lavish ceremony. She was accompanied by Umm Ayman (RA). It was after the Isha salaat that her father, the Prophet (SAW), came to their house. The gift she received from her father after she married included very basic household items, including a waterskin, sheets, a pillow, etc. This is how the blessed marriage of the pious Fatimah (RA) and Ali (RA) took place.

And Allah knows best.
